Divine Intervention
Divine Intervention was commissioned in 2024 following the assassination attempt on President Donald J. Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. Based on widely circulated photographs from that day, Kenneth R. Turner approached the work as both a historical record and a meditation on providence, deliberately repositioning figures within the composition to reflect what he believes was a moment of unmistakable divine preservation.
Embedded within the painting is Turner's signature symbol of Divine Intervention, along with the ghosted presence of Corey Comperatore, who lost his life shielding his family during the attack. The inclusion was intentional—meant not as symbolism, but as acknowledgment of sacrifice and the unseen forces surrounding that day.
The completed painting was personally delivered by Turner and his wife to President Trump's campaign headquarters in Florida after it could not be transported aboard aircraft due to its size. When meeting members of the Secret Service, Turner was asked about the ghosted image within the work. His reply—"the spirit of Corey Comperatore"—was met with the response, "I've got goosebumps."
The letter formally presenting the painting to President Trump affirms its purpose plainly: to document a moment when history, faith, and survival converged. Divine Intervention stands as Turner's conviction that this was not merely an act of chance, but a moment in which history was redirected.
